Wet grinding in a long rotating cylinder relies on grinding media and a motion inside the mill to keep the slurry well mixed and the particles continually fractured and dispersed. This setup is exactly what an agitator ball mill provides—the tube mill uses an internal agitator to keep the media moving and to suspend the slurry, enabling efficient wet grinding and fine dispersion. The other types don’t fit because disk mills are typically used for dry grinding with flat discs, ring roller mills crush materials using rollers and rings without an internal agitator for slurry grinding, and mechanical impact mills rely on high-velocity impacts (often for dry powders) rather than the steady, agitated environment of a tube mill for wet grinding.
